The Best Time to Post on Instagram (Backed by Data)

There's no single universal 'best time' — the right posting window depends on when your specific audience is active, not a generic global average. That said, a few patterns hold up consistently across most accounts.

Weekday mornings between 9-11am and evenings between 7-9pm tend to see the strongest engagement windows, since they line up with commute time and after-work scrolling. Midweek (Tuesday through Thursday) generally outperforms Monday and Friday, when attention is more scattered.

For Reels specifically, posting slightly later in the evening (8-10pm) tends to perform better than early morning, since Reels benefit from longer viewing sessions when people have more downtime.

The single most reliable way to find your actual best time is checking your own account's insights for when your followers are most active — that will always beat a generic recommendation.

Timing alone won't fix a visibility problem, though. If your account isn't getting enough initial traction regardless of when you post, that's usually a reach issue a growth strategy is built to solve.
